Not a lot of sleep this week. So Monday night at 1 in the morning, we get a call from Samuel saying that there are a bunch of Sri Lankans at their house with weapons and trying to haze them. Their landlord called them over and told them to do so. Said that because Samuel and his family were having a prostitution ring.... we found out it was because they were learning from us and the Hindu landlord hates Christians. So for an hour we were sorting that out and how to help them. The next night it happened again, so up lat e trying to find a house for them to move in. They got a new place to live (Samuel and his family) but it is with their old preacher, who is forcing them to go to his church. They hate it there. so they called us at midnight and we, yet again, tried to find a place for them to live. So Friday we got it all sorted, at least we thought. They were going to move in on Saturday to a new place that we found for them, but then Samuel's sister freaked out for some reason and then they canceled it all. So Sunday came around and nobody but Samuel's sister came to church, told the pastor she was going to work so she could come to church. Samuel stayed behind to go with his mother. Won't answer our calls anymore. Don't know what happened. And now we are in Singapore and can't communicate with any of our investigators, so we have no idea what is up with them.
Alvira and her family are doing soooo good! We had a lesson with them on Saturday and a couple walked in with them. As they came in, Alvira leaned over and said, "Holmes, we don't know who they are" so we talked with them and they said they just wanted to come by to see how this church is. We asked them to stay for a lesson, and they accepted! They came to church the next day and had a wonderful time!!!!! So on Saturday night Alvira called at midnight and told us her mother was in the hospital. She cannot catch a break, just going through some of the hardest times. So we went to the hospital on Sunday and gave her mother a blessing, her mother loved it!! Gave her sister a blessing as well. The Lord's hand is in everything. Going to teach Alvira's parents and sisters on Friday! We really hope that we can help them.
Heavenly Father truly does bless us. Alvira just loves being a missionary as well, has been inviting everyone to church! So we are having a lot of teaching opportunities form there. She is an angel, so grateful God asked Elder Egbert and I to be the ones to teach them. They are the best, never loved someone so much outside my own family.
It has been a crazy week, and it only gets crazier. I love the work here, it is starting to pick up and getting stressed! Love being busy though, just wanna get some sleep sometime hahaha
Have a blessed week!
Love,
Elder Holmes
Great views from my apartment!!
