Chinese New Year is awesome!!!!! Will definitely do this in the US!
They have a massive festival within their families and just come together for a couple days, and the entire city just closed and shut down, was wayyyy weird.
Elder Wang and I have just been killing it! Been blessed with a New investigator in my main man, Cross Raj! He is a Hindu turned Christian who found Christ in jail. He came to us wanting to learn more and wanting to change. He doesn't want to keep making mistakes and taking drugs, so he came to us wanting help, he picked the right people! So happy to be able to teach somebody who is in true need of the Gospel, Heavenly Father just keeps blessing us.
Elder Wang took us to Steamboat BBQ, originated from the place he is from in China, on Monday to celebrate Chinese New Year, it is sooooo good. The food here is amazing, and it is basically just frying our own food in a little pot of boiling sauce. definitely worth it. Thursday was Chinese New Year and it was awesome!
Went to a member's home, and Elder Wang got to call home, since he doesn't on Christmas.
Went on exchanges with Elder Young, and what a fine missionary this guy is, total respect for what he is doing in his area. We had a blast. Walked in unexpectedly into a Chinese New Year party, and gave them oranges (Chinese Culture) and then we were asked to take some pictures. Nobody really knew English, so we were just shouting GONG XI FA CAI! and everyone liked it. It was a blast, so funny of an experience.
Sunday we had a ward party after church and ate traditional Singaporean chinese new year food and had a Louhai! it is a type of salad with raw fish and a bunch of other stuff that symbolizes wealth and prosperity in the coming year. You then get in a circle around it, and all put our chopsticks in and shout gong xi fa cai as we all toss the salad together for goodluck. Kind of weird but it was way good eating.
It was a great week! We have an apostle of the Lord, Elder Ballard along with Elder Rasband and Bishop Stevensen coming this week. And also Zone Conference!!!!!
