Week 95 Penang......well..... kind of

March 14th, 2016

So we were never in our area this week for a full day........ but it was pretty awesome, not gonna lie.

The work in our area was not successful but the training by Elder Nielson, the Head of the missionary department FOR THE WHOLE WORLD, was the best thing ever! Going to KL to have a zone conference with him, a district leader training meeting and then Kuching for MLC was the coolest thing ever!

We left Wednesday at 1 o'clock and didn't get back to our area until 4 on Saturday and every second of it was a massive punch in the gut sorely needed to wake me up and get back into the work. So the the main thing I learned from Elder Neilsen that stuck with me was "The greatest plague of this generation is doing nothing". We are stuck on doing nothing as a society and it is KILLING our souls. It was crazy good. We are agents to act, and not to be acted upon by video games, tv shows and things that make our lives nothing and pointless. If we can keep our lives full of activity and work we will find so much more happiness. The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the way we can get out of anything Satan throws at us and helps us to be agents to ACT and not be ACTED UPON like Satan wants us to turn into. I got 9 weeks left, I gotta act!

So on Sunday we were able to go visit Sister Iswari and her family with brother Ming Tan and Tian Muh (Tian Muh used to serve a mission in the Singapore Mission, we served in neighboring areas in KL) and it was really good to get closer with them and have Sister Iswari's amazing Indian food and Milo Ice..... delicious!

Later that night we visited Bro Diong a less active... he fell asleep in our lesson, literally, but no hard feelings. Elder Clark and I had a good chuckle about it.

When we got home to our apartment an appointement cancelled and we started praying about what to do next and right when we said amen Sister Poh Im and brother Ming Tan called! They wanted us to go visit her brother and sister in law, the sister had suffered from a fall and needed a blessing to know how to receive help. The family has been anti the church and other missionaries have been shut down with going over there before and sharing messages but we went with the Spirit. As they were explaining the situation, I asked the wife, "How is your faith going through your leg injury? Do you still trust in God?" and she opened up how she has had a lot of doubt and asking why. why is this happening to her and why do bad things happen to good people. We shared scriptures with the family and they opened up a lot and seemed like they wanted us to come over another day. It was awesome!!! Brother Ming Tan and Sister Poh Im are the bees knees. She also has a sister who lives in Chapel Hill, so for sure have to go visit them.

A funny this week was a lady sat next to us and asked us what church we are from and so we talked to her about the Restoration she was interested and when we pulled out the Book of Mormon her face turned pale and she yelled "Aren't Mormons a cult? Are you Mormons?" so we said, "We are in a cult? Why didn't anyone ever tell us this before?" She starts DYING laughing and she started asking questions. We answered them and seemed interested. the work will progress here, I know that is true.

We will see miracles here this week, and God will help us. I know this church is true and we can win! Love you all!
